To mark the latest "Celebrity Big Brother" just after "I'm A Celebrity- Get Me Out Of Here" on UK TV, the title track from the 2007 Shag Pile album, "Celebrity Gang Rape". For any of you thinking of gang-raping a celebrity, please be warned that this is not a thing we recommend; in fact, we'd go as far as advising you against taking such a course of action. (There are various contractual aspects, and it may be considered criminal if the whole thing isn't filmed, for example, or at least luridly recounted in a tabloid or popular blog.) As the song suggests, celebrities are human too, and we should look after them and treasure them - even the most incidental and apparently irrelevant of celebs. They at least have got the guts to show themselves - and yes, they probably in fact have a deeply felt need to show themselves. Does that give anonymous TV execs the right to pat themselves on the back for finding a formula which levels off falling viewing figures? Is humiliation OK if the victim was asking for it? If we enjoy watching this kind of thing, what kind of people are we? What next? Celebrity Bonfire? (Throw another Nolan on, it's getting parky - heh heh, you can put him on too!) Celebrities At War? (Let's film them sorting out the Gaza conflict: dress them as superheroes and give them imitation weapons like cigarette - lighter guns or guns which spit out a white flag with an amusing quip on it !) I think television shows such as "Big Brother", "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here" and "The X Factor" should be removed from existence. They are over-priced pieces of crap that do nothing to further the human race in any way. I'm annoyed, as I'm sure are many others, at the fact that it's almost all you see these days. What happened to real entertainment? Real education? So many people rant about the dumbing down of our nation but then hypocritically watch "Big Brother" at home.
